San Diego Covid-19 Updates 2021

SAN DIEGO COVID UPDATES

Finally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel! As we begin to emerge from this pandemic the good news follows; more than 25% of San Diego is fully vaccinated, and over 44% have received at least one dose, leading to California announcing the removal of the color coded tier system by June 15.

With the end of the tier system, restrictions on business will be removed with business as usual. Mandatory mask wearing will still be required. The full reopening will be contingent on two conditions: sufficient vaccine supply and low hospitalization rates. Currently, San Diego is in the Orange Tier. No matter what tier San Diego is in on June 15, the removal of the tier system will still occur. California has not announced if different guidelines will then replace the current tier system.

This past week the California Department of Public Health updated it's guidance documents for indoor live seated events and performances as well as private events, including receptions, conferences and meetings. These are based on the tier system

The San Diego Tourism Authority with the Convention Center have also put together a FAQ for San Diego Conferences. This great document helps answer important questions about capacity limits, vaccination requirements and the opening of the city. The FAQ can be found here.
